Pete Rose was one of my favorite baseball players. One evening he was a the guest on the Larry King Show on CNN. If you don’t remember that show, they took calls from viewers. So, I called in. They had someone screen the calls. They asked my name and where I was from, and what my question was. Then I waited about 20 minutes. Finally, Larry King said, “Our next caller is Bob, from Athens, Georgia.” I almost shouted at Larry King, “Athens, OHIO”. Larry King went, “Oh, sorry! What’s your question?” Then I asked Pete some dumb question about fathers and sons, and how they can encourage their kids playing baseball. I have no recollection of what Rose’s answer was.
