My office was in the same suite as Earl’s, right next to his to be precise.  Our Chief Engineer, Bill Cahoe, had his office down the hall in the Engineering area.  When Earle found out he was being investigated by the Campus Police—the “Gestapo” to Earl—he suspected everyone of cooperating with them.  (It didn’t take a rocket scientist to know that was true.)  To literally keep an eye on Bill, he had him move his desk into Earle’s office.  It’s no surprise that Bill spent as little time as necessary at his desk.
