Dan Fisher is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) where, after 15+ years of experience working in the healthcare industry in hospitals, long-term care, home health, and corporate wellness, he teaches healthcare systems, healthcare economics, operations, and strategic management while continuously looking for innovative and engaging ways to enhance teaching in an online, asynchronous environment.  He is committed to lifelong learning and professional development, hence his dedication to multiple professional organizations (ACHE, AOM, OLC, AECT), and to community service as he sits on the board for multiple nonprofits in the Wilmington area.  Through scholarship, Dr. Fisher focuses on innovational inertia in healthcare; systematic, organizational, and individual behaviors; and healthcare management, strategy, and leadership with the goal of identifying opportunities to enhance access, improve quality outcomes, and control costs while developing a better healthcare system.

This interactive session invites participants to experience an escape room-style learning approach implemented in an online, asynchronous graduate course.  Attendees will learn key takeaways to help them develop and implement similar assignments to increase student engagement, provide learners with practical experiences, and develop valuable skills.
