Dr. Allison Rief is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the School of General Studies at the University of Arizona Global Campus. Allison earned a Doctorate of Education with a specialization in Teacher Education in Multicultural Societies from the University of Southern California, a Master of Education from the University of California Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Arts in Literatures in English at the University of California San Diego.  Dr. Rief’s research interests include virtual professional learning communities, collaborative and reciprocal relationships with online associate faculty, course design with intentional scaffolding within online learning, and the effects of how flexibility and care impact student learning.

Dr. Bryan Aylward is the AVP, Office of Academic Innovation, Operations and Technology for The University of Arizona Global Campus. Dr. Aylward has almost 16 years of experience in higher education operations across numerous departments including student services, registrar, curriculum operations, and currently within academic operations. In addition to this experience, Dr. Aylward is an advocate of high-quality education, with experience in online, traditional classroom formats, as well as hybrid classroom formats (Online and Classroom) and is well versed in the challenges that exist for both students and faculty.

Morgan Johnson is the Vice President of Academic Experience and Interim Vice Provost at the University of Arizona Global Campus, bringing over 15 years of experience in higher education leadership to UAGC. As the Vice President of Academic Experience, Morgan champions every facet of the UAGC student journey, with an unwavering commitment to enhancing the classroom experience for both faculty and students. Her research has focused on systematic approaches to learning environments with a focus on planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of learning systems.

How do you scale live asynchronous learning to thousands of online students? Presenters will discuss the impact of a multi-year institutional effort to scale live learning through a centralized curriculum model. Curriculum delivery, faculty support, operational planning, and initiative implementation will be discussed. Tangible impact of this initiative on key student success metrics will be examined.
