In this session we will discuss using a quality blended course template. Participants will walk through a mixed map activity allowing you to think about your levels of blending. We will provide examples of strong development templates, and help participants determine the characteristics of a template for their context. We will also share tools used to promote quality assurance and continuous improvement for blended courses.
Dr. Heidi Watson-Held, (D.Ed.), is an Instructional Designer for Penn State. She has been an educator of all ages and stages for 25 years, and never planned on being an Instructional Designer. However, her career led her to it, since it combines her love for educating others and with her creative side for make engaging learning materials on a variety of subjects. She also teaches Instructional Design graduate courses for Purdue University. She completed her D.Ed. in Administration and Leadership – Higher Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2012. She received her M.Ed. in Adult Education from Pennsylvania State University in 2004. Heidi has worked for over 25 years in program design, development, and delivery.
Dr. Stephanie Edel-Malizia, Ed.D. is the Assistant Director for Academic Digital Education for the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State. Stephanie has over 25 years of experience as a leader in instructional technology spanning the k-20 realm. She has taught graduate courses in instructional technology and pedagogy for St. Bonaventure University, East Stroudsburg University, and PennWest University. Her research has been published in leading peer reviewed journals including TechTrends and the Online Journal of Distance Learning Administration; conference presentations include the Online Learning Consortium, Educause, The Teaching Professor Technology Conference, European Conference on E-Learning and the International Society for Technology in Education.
