How the Metaverse can improve student engagement and learning: Using AR and VR in the Classroom

The Metaverse is all around us! The use of augmented (AR), mixed (XR) and virtual (VR) realities has begun to permeate our personal and professional lives. It has become a new of interacting with ideas, objects, experiences and with one another. In this presentation we will explore the following for those new to the use of these technologies:

1. What AR, XR and VR are.
2. How these modalities have been incorporated into higher education effectively.
3. The implications and issues that could/are arising because of these modalities.Dr. Wallace is an Assistant Professor of Health and Exercise Science at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY. Dr. Wallace has focused her pedagogical practices around diversity, equity and inclusion, technology in the classroom (specifically Google, Apple and VR technologies) and flipped classrooms.
